Satement of Functional Expenses for 2023

As per official correspondence from the Utah Department of CommerceDivision of Consumer Protection (embedded below with a link to a PDF):

“During the 2024 legislative session, the Utah Legislature passed H.B. 43, Charitable Solicitations Act Amendments. Effective May 1, 2024, charitable organizations are no longer required to submit an annual registration with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection... [and] DO NOT need a registration from the Division of Consumer Protection to solicit in the state of Utah.

“...beginning January 1, 2025, under the new law, certain charities will be required to upload their most recent IRS Form 990 with the Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code as part of the corporation's filing process.”

The Utah Filmmakers™ Association is not yet aware if it will be included among the “certain charities... required to upload their most recent IRS Form 990” or if the Division of Corporations will also require nonprofits to include a Statement of Functional Expenses.

In the interest of transparency, the Utah Filmmakers™ Association will continue to release a Statement of Functional Expenses for the previous calendar year.

Statement of Functional Expenses for 2023:

The following image is an internal revision of the statement above. The sum of the Contributions field has been updated to include an approximate in-kind value for the Executive Director's services based on part-time salary data for U.S. non-profit executives sourced from multiple job-search websites at the time of the revision.

The specific value noted on line #5—Compensation of Officers/Directors (In-kind)—is derived from the CPI Inflation Calculator accessible through the official website of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics at https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl
